DescriptionDrawing of construction work, probably on the Civic Center during the reconstruction of its roof, on Ann Street (now Ann Uccello Street) in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. From street level, the drawing depicts the building covered partly in scaffolding, with a crane next to it. There is a construction worker next to the crane and one on top of the roof. There is an automobile passing by.
NotesSubject Note: At 4:15 a.m. on 18 January 1978, during a major snowstorm, the roof of the arena of the Hartford Civic Center collapsed and fell 83 feet to the floor. Just hours earlier, the arena had been packed with spectators at a hockey game.
