DescriptionDrawing of the reconstruction of the Civic Center's roof after its collapse, from a slightly elevated perspective. The drawing shows one of the entrances to the arena and the construction going on above it. The top part of the arena is covered in scaffolding. There are several ladders propped up against the walls, a crane tower in the center, and another crane behind the building. Construction workers are visible on the ground.
NotesSubject Note: At 4:15 a.m. on 18 January 1978, during a major snowstorm, the roof of the arena of the Hartford Civic Center collapsed and fell 83 feet to the floor. Just hours earlier, the arena had been packed with spectators at a hockey game.
