DescriptionSoft white leather slippers with flat sole, and a long vamp with square throatline. A white silk bow decorates the vamp of each slipper. White silk ribbons stitched to the side edges of the slippers would have laced around the ankle. The leather is lined with plain-woven linen, which is whiter in the quarters than in the vamp. The sock lining is plain-woven cotton. The uppers are bound with white silk ribbon, which also covers the side seams and back seam. The slippers are straight, but the pattern of wear suggests that ".a" was worn on the right foot, and ".b" on the left foot.
