DescriptionSoft white leather flat slippers, with a round toe. There is only a simple white silk bow at the top of the throat as embellishment. The leather sole is completely flat and is straight. The slippers were originally bound with white silk ribbon, but this has worn away almost entirely. The lining is of plain-woven linen in the quarters, and coarser plain-woven linen in the vamp, and loosely-woven cotton on the inner sole. A string still attached to the front of the throat on slipper ".a" shows that the opening was originally stabilized with a string under the binding tape, to keep the leather from stretching.
