DescriptionThree people, an elderly man, an elderly woman, and a young woman are seated in chairs at a table in an interior room, probably a kitchen. The man wears a coat, striped vest, and shirt. His Scottish cap is on the table and he reads from an open book, evidently a Bible. The old woman wears a cap and a shawl. The young woman wears a dress with an open bodice. A pitcher is on a table in the left background. A bottle and two jars are on a wooden fireplace mantle in the right background. A tin lantern hangs at the far right.
