The Arkansas Territory, Michigan Territory, the District of Huron attached to Michigan, the Missouri Territory, and the Internal Provinces of Mexico (including Texas) are also shown. Capital towns, "important" towns, large and small towns, missionary stations, courthouses, forts and canals are all represented on the map. Label TextH. Frederick Sumner was a Hartford, Connecticut bookseller, who, like many booksellers of his day, also dabbled in the publishing business. Sumner published several maps as well as books and prints during the 1830s, when printing and publishing was still a fairly local affair carried out in many small cities. Although Sumner continued in business as a bookseller in the 1840s, he does not appear to have published any more maps or prints during that decade.
