DescriptionManuscript map depicting a survey of two lots of land belonging to two Buel women along Tallmadge Avenue (Talmadge Avenue?) and Goshen Road in Litchfield, Connecticut. The survey shows lots belonging to a Miss Williams, Reverend Bissell and H.R. Jones, as well as two lots that are unlabeled, presumably those belonging to the Buel women. These lots contain dimensions in feet and inches, as well as area in square feet.

The map is accompanied by minutes from a special Litchfield town meeting concerning proposed changes to the highway leading from Litchfield to Goshen.

Label TextThis survey appears to have been done in conjunction with proposed changes to the highway leading from Litchfield to Goshen, Connecticut, probably present-day Route 63. Many of the improvements made to Connecticut's highways during the early twentieth century were intended to benefit motorists, who were taking to the roads in ever greater numbers. The "Misses Buel" are probably Minerva W. Buel and Katherine L. Buel, members of a prominent Litchfield family.
