DescriptionSubjects include the Flood of 1862 at Hartford and another slightly later flood, taken from the dome of the Old State House looking down State Street, a fire at the Hartford Steam Boat Company's Freight Depot on September 20th 1867, the ruins of the Hartford Carpet Company in Tariffville following a fire in June 1867, and the Park Central Hotel collapse, which occurred on February 17, 1889. Other photographs depict a reservoir break at one of the Hartford reservoirs, and an unidentified fire.

NotesSubject Note: The Park Central Hotel in Hartford was destroyed by an explosion of its steam boiler in the early morning of February 17, 1889. 22 people were killed. 10 were rescued. Only part of the eastern wing remained standing.
