DescriptionFull-length standing portrait of a man wearing a military uniform. He has a beard and mustache. His hands rest on his sword. He is standing on a patterned carpet or floorcloth.
NotesSubject Note: The Twelfth Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry was recruited at Hartford and was known as the "Charter Oak Regiment." The men mustered in during the fall of 1861; they mustered out 26 November 1864, having suffered severe losses in battle and from disease. The identification of this soldier as a member of the Twelfth Connecticut Volunteer Infantry is solely based on the inscription on the back of the mount. (Finlay 5/12/2012)
