DescriptionWhite cotton petticoat, with the lower twenty inches quilted with a pattern of leaves and diagonal parallel lines. The bottom edge is trimmed with white cotton knitted lace. Above the quilting, the petticoat has a 1 5/8-inch wide tuck; there was a second tuck above this, but it was taken out, perhaps by the original owner. There is no batting above the quilting. The petticoat skirt is gathered into the waistband, which is tied closed with cotton tapes. The lining of the quilting is also plain white cotton. The quilting is done with white cotton thread at about six stitches per inch.
