DescriptionA young man is seated in a wooden desk chair on rollers at a desk in the corner of a large room. He is wearing a suit and eyeglasses and holds a piece of paper in his hand. Books and a wire basket are on the desk. At the left, a woman is seated at another desk, writing. A radiator is beneath the window in the background. A grille, evidently for central heating, is in the wall above. An electric light fixture hangs from the ceiling. Through an open door at the right, another man is visible, seated at a desk.

NotesSubject Note: William J. "Bill" Hamersley was born in 1887 and died of influenza in 1918 at Camp Devens in Ayers, Massachusettes. He was an alumnus of Trinity College and Harvard Law school. He was married to Emily Brace Collins for two years before he died and the couple had one child, Jane Hamersley Wright. (Ruocco, 03/24/12)
