DescriptionA large model of a New England village is situated on a balcony in a railroad station. Buildings include a church, a grange hall, "Spooners Theatre," and a building with a cupola and shop windows. Signs read: "The New Haven Railroad invites you to / Main Street New England / Free to See and Enjoy." "Modern New England Show Window" "Use Stairway" "Outbound / Baggage / Checked for Trains" "Telephones Telegraph / Hotel Commodore." Large lunette windows and electric lights are overhead.
NotesSubject Note: The Danbury Fair was an annual exhibition held in Danbury between 1821 and 1981. At first a traditional agricultural fair, the event later included large fiberglass sculptures, stock car racing, and amusement park rides. The former fairground is now (2011) the site of the Danbury Fair Mall. (Finlay 3/25/2011)
