NotesSubject Note: John Ripley Tracy was born in 1821. He attended Trinity College, graduating in 1839. Shortly after graduation, he formed a partnership with Thomas J. Fales for the manufacture of railroad cars in Hartford. The partnership lasted until 1852, when John S. Gray became Fales' partner and the business name became Fales & Gray. Tracy was married to Charlotte Gray, possibly a relative of John S. Gray. He served on the coroner's jury following the explosion at Fales & Gray's factory on 2 May 1854. He died on 17 October 1855.
