DescriptionA man and a boy are wallking down a dirt road towards a river. The man has a load of wood on his back. The boy is holding a leafy branch. A small dog is beside them. A large leafy tree is at the right. A long wooden bridge crosses the river. A shipyard and a monument in the form of an obelisk are on the far shore. A city is on a hill in the distance. Sailing vessels are in the harbor and clustered along the docks on the distant shore.
NotesSubject Note: The composition is based on an engraving by William Henry Bartlett. The Charlestown Navy Yard and the Bunker Hill monument appear in the middle distance. (Finlay 9/18/2010)
