DescriptionA man and a woman walk on a grassy lawn at the right. The man wears a top hat and holds a cane. He has a beard. Trees line the lawn and cover the hillside that slopes down to a wide river in the background. Sailing vessels, chiefly sloops, are on the river. A small island and mountains are in the background.
NotesSource Note: The composition corresponds closely to an engraving after William Henry Bartlett, "View from Hyde Park," but the figures at the right have been altered. There could be another, intermediate source, such as a print by Currier & Ives, though no print with this title is listed in the Gale Research Catalogue. (Finlay 3/10/2004)
