DescriptionViews of flood damage include scenes along Route 8 and the Naugatuck River in Beacon Falls, Naugatuck, Seymour, and Waterbury. Other views include Broadbrook, Seymour, and Stafford Springs. Many scenes include drugstores: the Carroll's Drug Store, E.W. Pigeon Drug Store, Fournier's Pharmacy, the Naugatuck Drug Store, the Foley Drug Store, the Haggerty Drug Store, the McCormick Drug Store, and the Connecticut Wholesale Drug Co. Other businesses include Friedrich's Jewelry Store, the Seymour Manufacturing Co., and a Petroleum Products business. One photograph shows the Irish American-Club in Putnam. Several show the destruction of private houses. One photographs shows the burning of debris in Naugatuck and another shows earth-moving equipment involved in clean-up operations.
NotesConstituent Note: The name "Matt Walsh" was inscribed on the original envelope containing the photographers. It is possible that he was the photographer. Since many of the photographs show drugstores and wholesale drug companies, it seems likely that the photographer was associated with the wholesale drug business. (Finlay, 11/13/2009)
