Other surnames of sitters include Hine, Talcott, Loomis, Hutchinson, Barker, Cooke, Waterman, Williamson, Mason, and Perry. Photograph album also contains a photograph of Army nurses who cared for William Huntington after he was wounded at Antietam, Maryland in 1862.
NotesSubject Notes: William Huntington of Lebanon Connecticut, enlisted in the United States Army on September 3, 1861. He mustered into the 8th Connecticut Volunteers on September 21, 1861 as a Private. On February 10, 1862, Huntington was promoted to Sergeant. He was wounded on September 17, 1862 at Antietam, Maryland. On January 9, 1863, Huntington was promoted to First Sergeant. He re-enlisted under Veteran status on December 23, 1863 and was wounded on May 7, 1864 at Walthall Junction, Virginia. Huntington was transferred to the 37th Company, 2nd battalion Veteran Reserve Corps on February 20, 1865. He discharged as a Private from 36th Company on September 5, 1866. Farnham, of Meriden, Connecticut, enlisted on September 18, 1861 and was mustered into Music Company K, Connecticut Volunteers on September 23, 1861. On December 24, 1863, Farnham re-enlisted and on January 10, 1865, he was promoted to First Lieutenant of Company C of the Connecticut Volunteers. Long enlisted in the United States Army on August 7, 1862 and mustered into the 21st Regiment of the Connecticut Volunteers Infantry on September 5, 1862. On December 22, 1862, Long was promoted from Sergeant of Company E to First Sergeant of Company B. On March 23, 1863, Long was promoted to Second Lieutenant. On August 18, 1864, he was wounded at Petersburg, Virginia. Long was promoted to Adjutant on October 12, 1864 and then to Captain of Company B on January 11, 1865. He mustered out on June 16, 1865. 1985.134.184.23 is a portrait of Sergeant Henry D. Rose of Lebanon, Connecticut. Rose enlisted in the United States Army on September 15, 1861 and was mustered into the Connecticut Volunteers on September 21, 1861 as a Private. On March 1, 1863, Rose was promoted to Corporal and then promoted to Sergeant on October 1, 1863. Rose re-enlisted under veteran status on January 5, 1864. 1895.134.184.29 is a photograph of First Lieutenant John McCall and Second Lieutenant Sam Foss of the 8th Connecticut Volunteers.
McCall, of Norwich, Connecticut, enlisted in the United States Army on August 28, 1861. He mustered into the 8th Connecticut Volunteers on September 21, 1861 and was promoted to First Sergeant. On May 1, 1862, McCall was promoted to Second Lieutenant. On August 15, 1862, he was promoted to First Lieutenant. He was wounded and captured on September 17, 1862 at Antietam, Maryland. His date of parole is unknown. McCall was promoted to Captain of Company K, 8th Connecticut Volunteers on February 7, 1863 and discharged on June 14, 1865.
Foss, also of Norwich, enlisted in the United States Army on September 3, 1861. On September 21, 1861, Foss was mustered in as Corporal of Company D, 8th Connecticut Volunteers. He was promoted to Second Lieutenant on February 7, 1863. On July 22, 1864, Foss was promoted to First Lieutenant of Company A. He was wounded at Fort Harrison, Virginia on September 29, 1864 and then discharged on January 29, 1865.

1985.134.184.47 is a photograph of Nelson M. Sammis of Lebanon, Connecticut. Sammis enlisted in the United States Army on September 3, 1861 and mustered into the 8th Connecticut Volunteers on September 21, 1861. On December 23, 1863, Sammis re-enlisted under Veteran status. He was wounded and captured on May 7, 1864 at Walthall Junction, Virginia and while a prisoner of the Confederacy, he enlisted in the rebel army. Sammis was captured by United States Army Troops on March 21, 1865. He was released from confinement on July 8, 1865.
