NotesSubject Note: Ella Grasso (1919-1981) was the first woman governor of Connecticut. She was elected for her first term in 1974 and re-elected for a second term in 1978. (Finlay 3/25/2011)The Danbury Fair was an annual exhibition held in Danbury between 1821 and 1981. At first a traditional agricultural fair, the event later included large fiberglass sculptures, stock car racing, and amusement park rides.
