On Jan. 29, 1917, fire razed the store to the ground. Civic-minded Moses Fox, interested in the growth of the city, announced plans to build a new 11-story building. (Blakelock 12/16/2008) Object Note: This plaque probably hung in the Moses Fox Room at the G. Fox department store in Hartford.
