NotesSubject Note: Moses Fox (1850-1938) owned G. Fox & Co., a department store that was housed in a five story building on Main Street in Hartford, CT. On Jan. 29, 1917, fire razed the store to the ground. Civic-minded Moses Fox, interested in the growth of the city, announced plans to build a new 11-story building. (Blakelock 12/16/2008)

Object Note: This plaque probably hung in the Moses Fox Room at the G. Fox department store in Hartford. Faithful employees would be honored and inducted into the "Moses Fox Club", a club for those who worked for the company for 25 years or more. (Blakelock, 12/16/2008)
