DescriptionA towboat, left unfinished by the artist, is towing a barge past an island with a lighthouse on it. A man stands on the stern of the barge and a large American flag flies from it. The barge is towing a small rowboat. Additional buildings and trees are on a bluff above the lighthouse. A strip of sandy beach backed by trees is to the left. Hills are in the background. Birds, probably gulls, fly just above the water.
