Katherine Purtell

Katherine E. Cassidy was born in 1887 in Waterbury, Connecticut. She graduated from St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center School of Nursing and served as an Army nurse in France during World War I. She married U.S. Senator William A. Purtell (1897-1978), and they had two children: William Arthur Purtell Jr. (1922-2004) and Margaret (Purtell) Poehnert (1923-2017). She died on 11 August 1981.
