Chester B. Bowles

Chester Bliss Bowles (1901-1986) was the 78th Governor of Connecticut serving from 1949-1951. He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1959-1961, the 22nd U.S. Under Secretary of State in 1961, and the U.S. Ambassador to India from 1963-1969.
