Elizabeth (Betsy) Mason was born on 20 January 1759 in Lebanon, Connecticut, the daughter of jeremiah and Elizabeth (Fitch) Mason. She married John Griswold Hillhouse (d.a. 1806) of Montville, Connecticut in 1786.
