BiographyMartha Street (1829-1926) was born in Prospect, the daughter of Deacon James Street (1791-1871) and Betsey Scott Street (1787-1834). She married Welcome E. Benham (1820-1898) of Meriden on 8 February 1854. She died on 9 May 1926 in Meriden, age 96.
One year after her mother Betsey Scott died, James Street married his second wife, Mary Curtis Spencer (1792-1871). She is most likely the woman who taught Martha Street for her embroidery (2006.74.1)
