BiographyCaptain Elish Manross was born 11 May 1792 in Bristol, Connecticut. He was the son of Elijah Manross. During the War of 1812, he was the captain of a company that marched at the head of one hundred men from Bristol to Fort Killingly for guard duty. After the war, he was the captain of an artillery company in Bristol. Captain Manross married Maria Cowles Norton (1799-1867) on 29 January 1821. He died 27 September 1856.
