BiographyElizabeth Foote Huntington was born in 1750 in Colchester, Connecticut. She was the eldest child of Elizabeth Kimberly and Israel Foote Sr. Her younger siblings were Mary Foote Otis, Israel Foote, and Abigail Foote. She was a needleworker. On 5 November 1778, she married Rev. David Huntington in the same ceremony as three other couples: sister Mary to Nathaniel Otis, brother Israel to Sarah Otis, and Martin Kellogg to Hannah Otis. With David, Elizabeth had five children: Betsey Kimberly Huntington Bunce, David Huntington, Anna Huntington, Leverett Israel Foote Huntington, and Lois/Louisa Huntington. In an obituary, Elizabeth was described as having been “naturally possessed of a strong mind and very retentive memory, both of which had been strengthened by culture.” She died in 1845 at the age of 95 and was buried in the North Lyme Cemetery of Lyme, Connecticut.
