Fanny Gaylord was born on 10 November 1801, the daughter of Elijah Gaylord and Esther Loomis Gaylord of Torringford, Connecticut. On 11 May 1824, she married Roderick Bissell (1796-1875), the son of Lucretia Spencer Bissell and Ezekiel Bissell, Jr. They had six children: Dr. Gaylord Giles; Mary Jane (Mrs. Merritt Bronson); Charles Roderick, M.D.; John Edgar; Esther Ann; and Virgil Rollin Bissell. Fanny Gaylord Bissell died on 22 May 1891.
