John J. Mahon
John "Bud" Mahon (1912-1994) was a Frog Hollow (Hartford) resident, business owner, and the city of Hartford's treasurer for 13 terms. He managed local baseball and football teams, including the Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball League. He owned the Summit Hill Grill on Zion Street in Frog Hollow. In 1953, he had a stroke while serving his one term on Hartford's city council. While recuperating from the stroke, he decided to sell the restaurant and run for city treasurer, a position he held for 26 years. He retired in 1979, and in retirement served on the city's pension committee until 1991, and was a licensed real estate agent until 1993. He died of pneumonia at St. Francis Hospital in 1994.
Bud Mahon married Lucy Perzan in 1940. They remained married until his death. They had two daughters, Kathleen Mahon Golnik and Jane Mahon Grahn.
