Clara Hammond McGuigan

Dr. Clara Hammond McGuigan was the first women physician to intern at Philadelphia General Hospital and was the oldest graduate of the women's Medical College of Philadelphia. She was also the oldest graduate of New Britain State Normal School class of 1881. She operated the Mystic Oral School from 1895-1921, which was founded by Johnathan Whipple. She was married to Dr. John I. McGuigan. She attended the coronation of Queen Elizabeth at the age of 88. She died on 1 February 1964 at the age of 100.
