George Alexander Gregorieff

George Alexander Gregorieff was born on 1 February 1905 in St. Petersburg, Russia. He was the son of Concordia Vechesloff Gregorieff (1884-1963) and General Alexander Paul Gregorieff (1871-1947). His father served under both Tsar Alexander III and Tsar Nicholas II, fought in the Russo-Japanese War and World War I, and was a personal friend of members of the Russian royal family. During the 1917 Russian Revolution, the Gregorieff family was forced into hiding while his father joined the White Army. The family escaped to Constantinople and stayed there at least three years. In 1923, the family immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island and eventually settled in West Hartford, Connecticut.

He attended Trinity College. He served as an interpreter during the 1959 visit to the United States of Russian premier Nikita Khruschchev. He was an administrative specialist with International Business Machines Corp. (IBM). He served during World War II as a member of the Allied Control Commission. He died on 16 August 1972 in Hartford.
