Leonard Bartlett

American, 1833 - 1915
BiographyLeonard Bartlett was born on 13 July 1833 in Killingly, Connecticut. He was the son of Waldo Bartlett (1811-1873) and Mary Ann Covell (1813-1889). He had nine siblings: Almon Bartlett (1835-1922), Mary E. (Bartlett) Law (1838-1907), Prescott A. Bartlett (1841-1901), Harriet Kezia (Bartlett) Harris (1844-1910), Almira (Bartlett) Tucker (1847-1917), Reuben S. Bartlett (1849-1928), Henry Waldo Bartlett (1853-1901), Charles F. Bartlett (1856-1923), and Charles F. Bartlett (1856-1923).

He was a Deaf person and attended the American School for the Deaf from May 12, 1847 through May 28, 1852 (ASD Student #939). He lived in East Killingly and was a shoemaker.

He was married three times and had four children. He married his first wife, Thirza L. Barber (1828-1871) in 1859. They had two children: Franklin L. Bartlett (1860-1860) and Mary Esther Bartlett (1861-1949). He married his second wife, Patience I. Slocomb (1844-1879) after 1871. They had two children, twins: Clarence Arthur Bartlett (1879-1900) and Clara Amelia (Bartlett) Barstow (1879-1906). His third wife was Abby M. Fitch (1840-1926). They had no children together.

He died on 19 October 1915 and is buried at Bartlett Cemetery #1 in Dayville, Connecticut.
