C. Ian McLachlan
C. Ian McLachlan is a former justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, born on June 2, 1942, in Norwalk, Connecticut. He earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1964 and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1967. After serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, he practiced law in Connecticut, specializing in family law.
In 1996, McLachlan was appointed to the Connecticut Superior Court. He served there until 2003 when he was elevated to the Appellate Court. In February 2009, Governor M. Jodi Rell appointed him to the Connecticut Supreme Court, where he served until his retirement in 2012 upon reaching the state's mandatory retirement age. After retiring from the bench, McLachlan joined a private law firm as "Of Counsel" to concentrate on alternative dispute resolution for family and civil law matters.
