BiographyEdnah Dow Smith was born 12 May 1841 to Samuel Garfield Smith (1799-1842) and Elizabeth Dow Leonard (1806-1879). She married Knight Dexter Cheney (1837-1907) of Manchester silk fame in 1862. They had eleven children together between 1862 and 1881: six daughters and five sons.
