BiographyMary Mecum Tennant was born in about 1797 in Pleasant Valley, Connecticut; she was a member of the Tennant family of Colchester, Connecticut. She married George Benjamin Atwell on 1 December 1816; they had at least one daughter, Sophronia Tennant Atwell Bowen (1818-1836).
