BiographyAlmon Ruggles was born in New Milford, Connecticut in 1771, the son of Scottish emigrants. In 1805, he went to the future state of Ohio to survey the Firelands. He remained in Ohio, where he had a successful career as a state legislator and judge. He died on July 11, 1840 and is buried in Oak Bluff Cemetery in Berlin Heights, Erie County, Ohio.
