Description(a-b) Black silk boy’s suit and (c) pair of black velvet boy’s short pants worn by Bernard Marks while performing at Carnegie Hall.
(a) Suit jacket was constructed from hand and machine sewn black silk with a white or tan-colored lining, now discolored, the silk is shattering with age, and seams along the arm have been affected. The jacket does not have any closure method, a shirt would have been worn with the suit.
(b) Short pants are constructed from silk with a cotton lining side button closures at each hip, one side button is shell, one plastic (likely a replacement), there are three small shell buttons on each leg cuff.
(c) Black velvet short pants with cotton lining, button-front crotch, and knee buckles.
