DescriptionAn Israel Putnam badge from an unknown event in Atlanta during October 9-11, 1911. There is a top bar with a pin on the reverse. The Connecticut seal is inscribed on the recto, and it is connected to the ribbon. The ribbon is blue with gold lettering, which says, "ATLANTA/ OCT. 9-11/ 1911." The ribbon is connected at the bottom to a medal with a relief portrait of Israel Putnam in the center. Around the perimeter, inscribed is "ISRAEL PUTNAM/ DARED TO LEAD WHERE ANY DARED TO FOLLOW." On the medallion verso, there is a relief image of a soldier in the center. Around the perimeter, inscribed is "PUTNAM PHALANX/ HARTFORD, CONN."
