DescriptionTintype photograph of David Starr in his Civil War uniform and cap, sitting with his hands resting on his lap.

The case is embossed on paper, black but with some of the tan wood (or cardboard) showing through from wear. Embossed is a central medalion with a patterned border. It has a small golden latch on the outside, but the bottom half of the latch seems to be missing. On the inside, the left has a layer of red velvet with an embossed central medalion and a patterned border. On the right is the photograph of Starr. The photograph is resting in a gold frame with a leaf pattern.
