DescriptionCream-colored breeches of cotton duck, with a button fly front. Buttons stitched to the waistband accommodate suspenders. A strap with its original buckle, mounted just below the waistband at center back, adjusts the fit of the breeches. The breeches are knee-length, with a three-button closure at the knee; the buttons are small, flat, brass shank buttons. (There is no knee band.) The pocket openings on each side of the front have topstitching in a decorative pattern resembling a winged diamond. The center back seam of these breeches is stitched by hand with a back stitch, but the rest of the construction is done with machine stitching. Most of the buttons are bone, but there are several replacement buttons of mother of pearl or metal.
