DescriptionSixth plate daguerreotype of sisters Edith Maria and Jennie Susan Bromley, taken probably between 1858 and 1860, based on the girls' birth years and presumed ages in the image. Edith, on the left, is sitting on a chair. They are wearing identical dresses of a dotted fabric. The yoked necklines are wide and low, and the bodices are pleated. The plate is dark, so it is difficult to see the details of the dresses, including the waistlines. The sleeves are short and full. Edith's skirt is visible, and may be tiered. She is wearing white or light-colored stockings and boots that button up the front of the foot and are appear to be unbuttoned. Jennie's legs are not visible.

Both girls are wearing necklaces, likely made of coral. Edith's hair is parted in the middle and fashioned into ringlets that frame her face. Jennie's hair is also parted in the middle, but is either quite a bit shorter than Edith's or is worn in a style that ends at her ears.
