Major Kandarian stands at left with his hand on the horse’s bridle, he is wearing his Governor’s Horse Guard uniform. The daughter of Mrs. J. Loring Brooks is atop the horse, riding astride, she wears a light-colored riding outfit with a dark hat, there is a white flower pinned to her lapel. Clinton C. Hanks stands at right wearing a dark suit and is holding the Challenge Trophy. The horse, at center, is wearing a polka dotted ribbon right below the ears. The trophy is large and shaped like a bowl with a stand, it is highly decorated. Spectators in stands are visible in the background.
