DescriptionIn both photographs, a man, John F. Kennedy, is standing in an open white convertible. Other men are standing and seated in the automobile. Men on motorcycles, presumably police, surround the car. In both photographs, the car with Kennedy in it is on a street lined with commercial vehicles. In one, a sign reads: "LEE / MOTOR [SALES?}" One photograph includes leafless trees. In both, other automobiles are on the street.

NotesSubject Note: Democratic Presidential candidate John F. Kennedy visited Hartford on 7 November 1960 on the eve of the election. An estimated 70,000 people gathered to hear Kennedy deliver a speech from the portico of the Hartford Times building. Kennedy also toured the city in a motorcade.These photographs may have been taken in Hartford's North End. Lee Motor Sales was located at 3298 Main Street. (Finlay 11/27/2013)
