DescriptionA large residence with multiple chimneys, rounded tower and several roofs, nestled below a hill. Gently sloping expanses of grass, dotted with a gazebo, small evergreens and larger deciduous trees with bare branches, extend in front of it. A low stone wall runs horizontally across the foreground. At the top of the hill and to the right of the chateau are two more, smaller, houses. Haystack Mountain is in the background.

NotesSubject Note: The "Bridgman Chateau" was Foxhill, the residence of H.H. Bridgman, a lawyer, judge and book collector. Situated on 150 acres, the house was designed by J. Cleaveland Cady of New York, while the landscape architecture was designed by Olmsted, Olmsted & Eliot.
