DescriptionWide, cylindrical, ivory, porcelain coffee cup with gilding and overglaze brown enamel. The coffee cup has a flat bottom surface and vertical sides, with an angular handle. Thick bands of gilding have been applied to the handle, rim, and foot, and in a rectangle surrounding the printed decoration on the coffee cup. Opposite the handle, a scene titled, "STATE HOUSE . MAIN STREET" then, "HARTFORD CONN" has been applied using a halftone printing process. The scene shows the State House on the left as a three-story building with a cupola and flag flying above. In the middle of the scene is Main Street, lined with buildings on the left and right, with three tall spires in the distance rising above trees. There are horse-drawn carriages, horses, oxen, and pedestrians in the street.

MarkingsAn overglaze, green enamel, printed mark and inscription are found on the bottom of the coffee cup. The mark consists of a U-shaped wreath with a cursive letter "L" inside over the company name "LENOX". This is followed below by the following inscription: "Lenox Historical China/ painted by/ Minga Pope Patchin/ 1933/ From old paintings and prints/ of the Period/ Copyright". An additional impressed mark on the bottom of the cup consists of the numbers "2408".NotesHistorical Note: According to object records, Minga Pope Duryea Patchin (Mrs. Robert H.
