DescriptionThis belt has a diamond shaped self-fabric covered buckle. The off-white silk satin used in the buckle matches that of the bride's wedding dress (2001.41.4.1). The three-inch diamond buckle is most likely plastic, with a metal post. The belt only has one hole, found 2 1/2 inches from the end of the belt, 3/4 inch down from the top edge.
Object number2001.51.4.6
NotesHistorical Note: Adella S. Smolensky (1909-2001) married John M. Sliva (about 1910-1996) 30 May 1936 in Holy Cross Church in New Britain, Connecticut. This belt would have been sold with the dress, but as seen in the wedding photographs also donated, she chose not to wear the belt for the wedding. On View
