DescriptionBlack silk day dress, with the fabric of the bodice gathered at the center front and spread out towards the shoulders in a V-shape. The shoulderline is dropped; the top of the sleeves are decorated with black bobbin lace. The coat sleeves are decorated at the wrist opening with three vertical strips of dull black coarse tape, pulled up and stitched to form a line of short loops. The skirt is stitched to the bodice; it ruches at the top for 5/8 of an inch. The bodice is lined with brown twill-woven cotton; the sleeves are lined with a brown printed calico. The boning has been removed from the bodice at center back and front. The bodice opens at center front with hooks and eyes that have been enamelled black. The skirt is unlined except for a width of brown cotton for 6 1/2 inches around the hem, which is finished with dark twill-woven wool tape.
