[The notes written in pencil on verso are in Lou’s handwriting]NotesThis depiction of the West Cornwall Bridge, formerly known as Hart’s Bridge, shows the structure as it appeared before its 1946 alterations. At that time, the bridge featured a square portal with a flat top, which was later replaced by the gabled roof seen today. Its iconic red paint was not added until 1957, one year after after Lou Frink’s death. By dating this drawing to 1946, the same year the first modifications began, Frink appears to be working from memory, aiming to preserve the bridge’s original form.
