DescriptionMan's vest of a coarse plain-woven beige tow linen, with a pin stripe of a lighter colored linen thread. The vest is double-breasted, fastening with five pairs of mother of pearl buttons. Two tagua nut ("vegetable ivory") buttons fasten the vest front on the inside. The collar is notched. There are two breast pockets and two pockets about 3 1/2 inches above the lower edge. Each side of the vest is pointed, so that the lower edge forms a shallow W. The back and lining fabric of the vest is beige cotton. A strap which originally buckled across the back would adjust the fit. The center back seam is notched in a shallow double curve across the lower edge. The shoulderline and lower edge only of the back are lined.
