DescriptionChild's green silk wadded bonnet. The brim forms a horseshoe shape around the face; it is edged with a self-fringed ruffle of the green silk. The brim is stitched over four wires to hold its shape. The wire continues around the back of the neck from the front edge. The crown is flat against the back of the head and is quilted in vertical rows. The seam between the brim and crown is piped. The curtain (or bavolet) at the back of the neck is two inches deep and is also wadded. A pale pink silk ribbon bow decorates the bonnet at the back of the neck. This same ribbon is used for the ties. The bonnet is lined with pale pink silk sarsnet in the crown and bavolet. The crown is lined with loosely woven cotton.
